The Supreme Court on Thursday put a stay on Bikram Majithia’s arrest in the alleged drug case under NDPS Act. The next hearing of the court would be held on January 31.

On Monday also, the High Court had put a stay on his arrest for three days.

On January 26, Shiromani Akali Dal announced that Bikram Majithia will contest the 2022 Assembly Elections against Navjot Singh Sidhu from the Amritsar East seat.

After Bikram Majithia’s plea for an anticipatory bail got rejected, police teams from the Punjab state crime branch raided Bikram Majithia’s house on Monday morning. However, in the evening, the High Court put a stay on his arrest.

The Punjab Police has filed an FIR against Shiromani Akali Dal’s Bikram Majithia in an alleged drug case under the NDPS Act.

Interim bail had been given to Bikram Majithia on the condition of cooperating in the investigation. But on January 24, the court dismissed his plea for anticipatory bail.
