Former MLA from Qila Raipur, Jasbir Singh Khangura has resigned from Congress ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections in Punjab. On Sunday, January 30, Jasbir Khangura resigned from the Indian National Congress.
In a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Jasbir Singh wrote, “With a heavy heart, I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress party.”
Further, Khangura wrote, “This has been a valuable and emotional 20 odd years journey for me, and some 60 years for my father, who is also resigning concurrently.”
Jasbir Khangura now may join Bhartiya Janta Party or Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress.
Khangura was MLA from Kila Raipur constituency of Punjab from 2007 to 2012. He is a former British national and returned to India in the year 2006. His father Jagpal Singh Khanguda was also associated with the Congress. He was married to Raman, daughter of Congress leader Gurinder Singh Kairon and granddaughter of former Punjab Chief Minister Pratap Singh Kairon.
