Lokesh Jain of TK Steels planted a Sacred Forest comprising 1,650 saplings of 38 native species of Punjab. He planted the Sacred Forest in memory of his father Dharam Pal Jain. This sacred forest is created under EcoSikh’s Guru Nanak Sacred Forest project which utilises Miyawaki methodology to create a native dense forest.
“My father had always inspired me to give back to nature. Therefore, I collaborated with EcoSikh to create a forest. We think it is the best way to serve nature and curb pollution. This forest is the first in many that we plan to create in the future. I hope my fellow industrialists will also replicate this model with EcoSikh’s help,” said Lokesh Jain.
EcoSikh has planted 360 sacred forests in 5 states and 3 union territories. They use Miyawaki methodology to create forests that are 30 times dense and grow 10 times faster than traditional plantations. It is to be noted that many of the developed countries have planted their forests by this method.
Many significant industrialists were also present in the event and took part in the plantation including Mr. Arshpreet Sahni, Chairman- CII Ludhiana Zonal Council; S Gurvinder Pal Singh, Sajjan Precision Castings; Shri Sanjay Jain, Ludhiana Steels; Inderjit Singh Khurana, Steelman Rolling Mills; Neeraj Gupta, Krishna Steel Rollings; and other prominent industrialists of Ludhiana.
“These forests are the natural solutions to the problem of climate change. We are open to collaborating with the industrialists if they wish to create such forests in their factories and other workplaces. EcoSikh is an 80 G approved charitable society and can take projects under CSR as well. We appeal to all the corporate houses to come forward and join hands with us so that we can make a positive impact on the environment,” said Pavneet Singh, Head operations, Guru Nanak Sacred Forest Project, EcoSikh.
